The Eklectic Maltese
Bringing home my new Maltese puppy!

Before bringing your new puppy home, you should dedicate a safe and secure corner specially for
him or her!

We recommend a pen as seen here. Your new puppy will have his/her own secure place,
preferably in a room  close to where you will be spending most of your time. Make sure that the
pen is not in a draft.

As you see in this picture, we also have a crate. A crate is a safe place for your puppy: it is
his/her den.  We leave the door open so the puppy has easy access to water  and the pee pad.

Our puppies are trained to use the water bottle to drink. This minimises the staining around the
mouth that Maltese are prone to when they drink out of a bowl.
As well, you will not have a mess to clean on the floor because he/she decided to play in the
water, something most puppies love to do.

The Eklectic Maltese

Although the high quality food we have fed your puppy is readily available at many reputable
pet stores, we will provide you with enough so that you will be able , over a period of at least a
week , change to a new brand if you so decide. These little guys have a delicate stomach  and by
gradually changing the food, you will insure that their system will handle it.

We will provide you with a  safe toy and a bed with mom's scent on it. It should make
transition easier for all involved.

Grooming is an important part of owning a Maltese. Our puppies are used to having their faces
cleaned regularly. We brush them every other day as they have a short coat. As the coat grows ,
you need  to do it every day to insure that there is no matting.

We do not recommend collars for Malteses as their trachea are very
delicate. You
must purchase a well fitting harness for your Maltese puppy.
